need help choosing right intake manifold gaskets, for ported heads.

okay so i have a problem, i got a new dart intake for my engine, and i accidently tore my old intake gaskets while taking the old victor jr off. i forget what part number they were, they are fel-pro ones. the black ones with the blue rings.

but anyway. i used my dial caliper to measure the ports on my heads. and they dont make a gasket thats exactly the size. question is do i get the ones that are slightly smaller, or the ones that are slighty larger?

thanks.

I'd say slightly larger.

Re: need help choosing right intake manifold gaskets, for ported heads.

With 'luck' there will be a step 'out' into the head with the head having a larger port diminsion than the intake. If it's the other way around,, ummmm I'd reconsider useing the intake,,, but that's another discussion all together.

The FelPro 1205
Stock or Small Race Port
Port Size: 1.28" x 2.09"
Thickness: .060"

1206 medium race port gasket is:
Port Size: 1.34" x 2.21"
Thickness: .060"

1207 Large Race Port
Port Size: 1.38" x 2.28"
Thickness: .060"

Whichever you use has to seal the LARGER of the two,, intake or head. If you order too small there will typically be leaks around the perimiter of the larger port
Hope that helps

I just did my taxes and reviewed my SS statement. Thanks to the current administration it looks like I will only have to work till noon on the day of my funeral.
