700r4 questions??

I know this has been asked many times as I've asked before myself and got another 700 shifting again.

I just bought another 90 silverado and it is stuck in 1st gear.

The PO said it has been recently rebuilt and the trans fluid looks good/new and it's not burned or dark.

It won't shift out but if you let off the gas at about 4k rpms it'll let it slip as to not keep winding out in first.

I already tried un-hooking the TV cable with it running in park and pulling it in and out. It had no resistance at first and now it does but it's still stuck in gear.

I also tried the Raptor method of stomping the gas really hard while going about 30 mph--still stuck.

Any other suggestions? I've read that the governor gear may be stripped and that the plunger may be stuck in the valve body.

Should I start with the governor first since it's easier before i pull the valve body?

Also, is there a way to tell what year and engine size a 700 trans came from behind?

The reason I ask is I can get one cheap that came from an 88-92 1500 truck but I don't know if it was a 4.3 or a V8. It has some stickers and numbers on it it that means anything
