Good Deal? Front cradle and rearend

Found a front and rearend 5 lug setup for my 67 for $150.

Front crossmember/cradle came off a 72 C10 that has DISC brakes with 5 lug and power steering.The rear axle is also 5 lug(not sure if it is a 12 bolt). Includes the stock chevy rally wheels.

I haven't gone to look at it yet, so not sure what the condition of any of the parts are. Anyhow, if I buy it I will end up replacing all of the ball joints, tie rods, rotors, pads, etc.

Any idea what type of costs I am looking at to rebuild the entire front?

I personally do not prefer 5 lugs over 6 lugs-either is fine so that's not a factor. I do like the idea of power steering and disc brakes though and the availibility of brake parts with this swap.

For $150 it sounds like a no brainer, but i'd hate to have $1000 invested in a stock setup, when I could spend the same for a quality aftermarket kit with a drop.

dont want to buy this if its going to be a $1000 frontend build and lots of labor

Just for the replacement parts your looking for around 500-600 bucks man, that will be for quality parts ( Moog). ECE has a rebuild kit that I bought and it had everything for the front suspension, ball joints, a-arm shafts, pitman arm, drop springs, everything and it was a little over $500.00 and no labor, I did it and took it for a f/e alignment after.

I would do it, the rearend is worth 300 by it self if it is good and useable.

Oh and you should also rebuild your rear susp while you have it apart, parts there are about 250.00 or so. If your gonna do it, do it right. Just my opinion.

Call a couple auto parts stores and get quotes for the parts you will need(bushings, ball joints, idler arm, bearings and seals, ect) Might also need rotors and calipers if they are not turnable or rebuildable. I personally would have no problem paying $150 for a 5 lug front and rear suspension.

I say go for it. Regardless of that setup or the one you already have....the costs to rebuild one should be the same as the other.

Why are you looking at buying it? Is it because you think your truck would be better with it? If so, you must have questions about your existing front and rear end. If the only reason is to swap to 5-lug vs 6-lug...and I know you said you didn't necessarily prefer 5-lug...then, there's some unspoken reason for wanting it. If power steering is what interests you, then you should try and get all of the stuff that you need.....steering box is just one item. You'll also need the pump and brackets for the engine you have. Some '67 chassis may need a little work to make the PS box mount up and work. That's another minor expense that you shouldn't forget. The power steering for your truck was a linkage type, not the same kind as the later trucks ('69-up).

Even if you don't use it, you may be looking at some good tradin' material.

my primary reason for wanting the setup is because 6 lug discs are only available through aftermarket suppliers. if i had the 5 lug setup, i can go to any local auto parts store for replacement parts like rotors, tie rods etc.

i have a PS pump but unsure where it came from or what it will fit on. it was in the bed of the truck when i got it

i am going to want to lower the front of the truck regardless of which setup i am looking at. i think an ECE or CPP kit with drop spindles is going to be my best bet and sticking with the stock 6 lug setup

anything else i should consider before deciding on the purchase? the guy text me today and said he'd toss in a new cherry picker for $50 more.
