Sending the twins to summer camp tomorrow

Summer camp at the Machine Shop, that is, and they should have a whole new attitude when they get back home

First, I need to get them cleaned up and inspected, then make more decisions. I need a motor to continue my Panel build. My plan is to quickly build one more or less stock to put in the Panel, and then take my time and build the other to the high-performance motor that will go in the Panel when it's done. Then I'll take the stock one and put it in my '68 pick-up, my DD.

Yep, I'm gonna follow this one. Show us the pics after they get cleaned up.
What process will they use to clean them? Are the heads goin' too?

Pritch, I'm in to. Grab the casting number and date code off the XAE block, before you drop them off, if you can.

Re: Sending the twins to summer camp tomorrow

Bruceman68, I should have got those casting numbers, but I didn't. I'll get them next time I see the blocks. They'll be a lot easier to see then, anyway

68 Iron, I don't know how this guy cleans them, but I've had several done by him and however he does it, it works!

I'm excited to get going on this stage of the project. I've wasted enough time already. All I sent down this time was the 2 cranks. I still want to take one more trip to the wrecking yards to see if I can find a 194 head. I have several heads to choose from-I also want to make sure this machinist is comfortable with installing the lumps in the ports. I'm sure he can do it, but I don't want mine to be the first one he does. Defiantly the hardened valves, and probably larger valves, too, at least on the one that will be naturally aspirated. Not sure if that's necessary on the one that will get the blower.

Re: Sending the twins to summer camp tomorrow

Is a 194 head from a 292? I'm still learning about these 6's. Last year we bought our 68 with a 6 and its been great fun learning and playin' with it. I want to build a nice solid 6 in the future....so I'm gonna watch Pritch.
Oh ya, I have a 292 I'm waitin to hear back on....what about the head?
