What carb do you recommend to replace Rochester
I have a completely stock '66 with a 283 and powerglide. Starts pretty easy but definitely needs a rebuild...or better yet, a whole new setup.
Should I use another, more modern 2 barrel or change the intake and go with a 4 barrel? I would assume that a 500 cfm would be plenty big enough... What do you guys like? |

I would slap a Quad on there, they are pretty reliable and easy to work on.

with a quadrajet you can adjust the secondaries if the engine doesnt want all that air .........and it will get better mpg than anything else you will find .... my second choice would be a 500 afb.........

500cfm Edelbrock. I have that on my 305 and it works perfect.

For a stock 283 with a Powerglide in a heavy truck, I think that a Rochester 2bbl is just fine. If you decide to step to a 4bbl, keep it small, no bigger than 600cfm and definately vacuum secondary.

There's always a bunch of carbs on ebay , just seems more and more people are driving new stuff and carbs get cheaper everyday...
