Confused on lower steering column
Hi, I have a 69 c10 I6 250. When I bought the truck a few mos ago it had an auto steering column that replaced the 3 on tree. I am installing power steering set up and have an issue. I removed the steering wheel to adjust the column due to the turn signal lever pointing straight up. When i removed the intermediate shaft, the main shaft fell out? Is this supposed to be that loose? Bearing ring seems ok. Does the spring and washer hold this into the column or am i missing something to hold it up in the tube? Thanks

Re: Confused on lower steering column
The shaft is held in place with a spring and washer which rests against the coupler as can be seen in the picture.

Re: Confused on lower steering column
Bakenaz,
I have to replace my lower bearing... Can you separate the shafts at that junction in the picture without having to remove the steering wheel? Can you let me know what your procedure was to disassemble / reassemble? I would appreciate it, thanks! |
