Yes, they will fit perfectly. See my "old" thread. Of course i used a 1996 S10 Rear end also. I had 15x12 Cragar SS Wheels with 4-1/2" backspacing.

they will clear the frame but i think they will rub on the fender wells, i had a set of m/t on my panel and i had to widen the tubs ,but my truck was lowered too

i was planning on wideing the tubbs but was wondering what back spacing would be the best and if need be will flare the fender just enough to clear the tires if they didnt stick out to far. does any one know what back spacing would be the best.

I had 15x12 9"back space with 3" outer lip you may have to trim that fender lip on the inside, that will help getting the wheel on,

The best way to get the answer you are looking for, is to take measurements on your truck and see what will fit, and what back spacing you need. Keep in mind that those that have replied that they have done so, are using the '63-'66 frame which is slightly narrower from the rear of the cab back.

like Captainfab says, the BEST thing to do is to measure what you have. The frame width difference he mentions is 4 inches per side. this means your trailing arms or leaf springs are outboard by a similar amount compared to '63-'66 models.
finally, if you have trailing arms, remember that the panhard bar causes the side-to-side clearance to change slightly as the axle move up and down. CVA59 used a much narrower S10 axle on his '61

Re: will 29 x 15.5 15 tires fit on a 1962 gmc with out any fram mods
actually the '60-'62 frame rails are 2" wider each side at the axle, 4" further back. I was too slow to edit my last previous post.
also, CVA59's S10 setup WAS on the later model. But it appears that he moved his trailing arms mounts INBOARD of the frame Obviously, I need more coffee this morning

Re: will 29 x 15.5 15 tires fit on a 1962 gmc with out any fram mods
I don't think it can be done that way on your frame which is quite a bit different than the '63-'66's. it wouldn't be "simple", but then again, swapping your rear end for something else isn't going "simple" either. no "bolt in"

Again as Larry stated. On your frame i am not sure what has to be done. I am sure you can figure a way to do it. It may require some fabrication but it wouldn't be anything that is too involved. I sat and thought for several evenings trying to manipulate the rear section on my truck and reuse all my stock stuff. It finally clicked on evening and i never looked back. Good luck with it. If you need any help we are all here to help anyway we can. |

If you have a stepside bed then they will not clear that. A fleetside is a different story.
