Direct Sheetmetal Firewall
Has anybody installed one of these on our series of trucks? If so what was the quality, and fitment issues? How much more clearance was really gained?

I would like more room to be able to push my big block back another inch, so as to have more room between the electric fan and the GM serpentine belt system I have.. I would like to also smooth out the firewall, because previous owner liked to test his drill and hole saw out on the factory firewall. It is not a do or die thing to swap the firewalls, just curious to know the quality and benefits.

Direct makes a good product. It would probably be a good idea to give them a call Monday morning. I wonder why the trans cutout isn't uniform in the photo....
Direct started as direct competition to *****in Products. There is some history/drama there, but both companies have been around for quite a while. I used *****in for my Model A firewall. The forum censored a manufacturer name. Unbelievable. It sounds like Kitchen with a B. More like Beeotching. B!tchen. |

Dave at direct sheet metal is a great guy and stands behind all of his work. he has made a lot of the panels for the '29 ford roadster p/u that I am working on and have never been unimpressed. I am lucky to live in El Cajon where I can just drive down to his shop, or a little bit further to B!tchen products.

Here is what I did to get my BB back farther. I didn't cut the pieces out of the firewall just 3 sides and bent them inward and filled the rest with an old bed front I had. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=259536
