My 54 Truck
I have only joined this forum since yesterday. I was trying to show a few pictures of my work in progress but I am better at wrenching than downloading pictures. Perhaps someone can help me with this aspect. I am very impressed with the skill and thought process that many of you possess. I did 90% of the work on this truck except for the welding of the front end and rear four link. Hopefully I will be able to show some of the work I have done. It has a 496 big block with Brodix heads crane roller cam and a Victor jr intake with an 850 Demon carb. My trans is a turbo 400 built by Mikes transmissions in Lancaster. I have a Strange center section with a Detroit locker and 4:56 gears. Tires are 31x18:50x15 Mickey Thompsons. Contential 3000 stall converter. If only i could get past the 8 mpg just cruising I would be happy but I didn't build it for the mileage.

Re: My 54 Truck
You need a Gear Vendors OD. It just bolts on to your existing transmission its not cheap I think the last time I read it was around 1500 for a factory rebuilt one and 2K plus for the new one.

Re: My 54 Truck
Thanks BigDan,
I have considered that option, but as you stated they are not inexpensive. If I get one I will have to reconfigure my 3" exhaust system, like take it all out as I have an x pipe which is right in the way. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it very much. |
