Slow Idle- 04 Sierra
When I come to a stop sign, it will idle at 400-500 rpm for the past 2-3 weeks. I have cleaned the air filter (k&n) and Mass air sensor. I am pretty sure I do not have a IAC valve or even a MAP sensor. Related or not, I can not spin the tires no matter how hard I try. Low idle doesn't seem to affect its driveabilty other than the slow idle. No codes either.
Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions what to look for?? Thanks

Re: Slow Idle- 04 Sierra
I have a 01 silverado that would idle slow and sometimes quit when I started it. It has a 6.0L, I replaced the IAC and that did not help then I replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pressure regulator and that fixed it. the Fuel filter had actually fallen appart internally and was blocking the outlet. You can test the fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail. I used an old set of refrigerant gages and verified the pressure after I changed the regulator and filter.
Hope that helps Navysnipe |

Re: Slow Idle- 04 Sierra
Fuel filter is under the drivers side on the inside of the frame... Mine is anyway. My throttle body was getting dirty and the only thing that it was causing was a sticky throttle(closed). I just adjusted the stop screw a little bit more open and the IAC compensated for that and the idle settled down where it was supposed to.

Re: Slow Idle- 04 Sierra -Follow up
I have cleaned the Mass Air Sensor and the Throttle Body. Still no luck. It does seem to idle a tad better but still not normal.
According to autozone, I dont have a IAC valve ![]() ![]() I can have the truck floored and it won't even break a tire. ![]() I don't have a clue ![]() PS: Still have no codes

Re: Slow Idle- 04 Sierra
My online repair manual shows the fuel filter for an '04 Sierra on the frame rail.

Re: Slow Idle- 04 Sierra
your fuel filter is built into the fuel pump module NOT on the frame rail. And also. My 04 z71 wont spin a wheel ever since it was brand new. Your iac, is basicly built into your TB. I would check what your fuel pressure is and go from there. The spec is different for whatever engine you have a 5.3 T engine and a 5.3 Z engine are different pressures.
