bed question

i got a 1978 bed today ( LWB ) and i noticed it has a fuel door and the gas filler is on the left side of the bed. My truck is a 1976 and its got a twist off fuel cap located on the right side of the truck. Being my bed is shot can i take the bed floor and wheel wells from the new bed and put the sides on it i need for my 1976 and use it ( will it be a direct bolt up?) or should i just sell this new bed cause it is fixable ( rust on rockers)

i have dual tanks on mine, but the bed i picked up has the fuel door on the driver side, none on the pass. side. i have comtemplated running a hose all the way over to the other tank. you could take the good floors and front and tailgate or whatever, and just add new sides with the proper fuel door.

Rusty, yes...you can do that swap, all parts are interchangeable as long as the beds are the same length you will be just fine.

Why not move the gas tank to the other side? The door looks better than a big gas cap in the middle of the bed.
