Red... This was not the factory color, and it is bright fire engine red. Not my first choice, but fortunately it needs a new paint job. Plus, the prior owner recklessly removed all of the stock trim... I will be replacing that as well. It has come down to two colors.
  • GM Medium Blue / White two-tone
  • GM Bright Blue Poly / White two-tone

I have started a build thread recently. It's not as exciting as some of the other build threads. I'm into stock height, stock appearing, Rally wheeled daily drivers.

What about your trucks? How on earth did you end up with three high option trucks?

Pale Green / White was the other color combo I was considering. Blue is still topping the list. When I began my search for a Square, I was after a SWB Big 10 Bonanza. I saw one that was dented and rusted but beyond restoration, but it sparked the search. When I found a swb bonanza, I pulled the trigger. They're increasingly rare. It's not a high optioned truck or anything, but it had everything I was looking for. I prefer crank windows and bench seats.

I'll keep an eye out for your pics.

Re: New to the website

sounds great!! I would go with the blue combo... the bonanza's are rare there were a few down my way back in the day.. some swb 4x4's and 2wheel drv. ,, most of the ones down here had a combo pkg. like it would be a bonanza with a cheyenne trim level or scottsdale trim.. the cheyenne trim gave it carpet and headliner, and the full body side mldg,, and the ones I have seen have the small tailgate applq.. sounds cool anyway ...

Re: New to the website

Welcome aboard there Big10x3. Sure glad to hear about more 79/80 GM truck nuts like me too. I like your collection. Sounds like quite the decision to figure out which one to drive in the morning!!!!!
I got my first 79 Silverado in 1980 with 5500kms on it. Drove it till 1987 w/190,000km's on it. Sold it to buy my 1980 GMC streetcoupe. Drove it till the early 90's when I tore it apart to restore it but never finished it. Since then been driving way too many 79/80's to count. Mostly 2 toned, fully loaded, rally rimmed, stock appearing trucks. Have collected quite a few different options( tachs, buckets w/console, bumperettes, original GM mudflaps, alum rims, rallies w/ trim, rear sport bumpers, Olds/Cadillac/Buick am/fm cassette decks for these trucks) but I call that my hoarding obsetion. Sorry no parts are for sale, not yet anyways!!!
Nice to hear of your trucks and lets see some pics.
I'll try to get my pics up soon.

Re: New to the website

I have heard about you 80 street coupe!! from a good friend frank monroe... HA.. thanks I am very proud of my trucks.. although don't drive them much I think the 80 gets driven more than any of them,, the 78 is super NICE, all factory,, the 79 is sitting in the same state it has been in since the summer I graduated in 92, the engine is pulled out. but it is a rust free truck all original, paint ect, I got it in the summer of 88 always been inside, the 80 was a buddy's truck that he drove in high school, I have had it now for about 5yrs bought it from his dad he bought it new and let his son drive it in high school,, the 78 came from e-bay about 2months ago frank saw it on there I found it and had to have it!! it is loaded out like the others I don't think there is one single option it does not have.. I also drive a 84 k-5 most all the time.. now I am in need of a blue 77 454 swb lowback bucket seat truck to complete the whole 77-80 line-up>>>

Re: New to the website

I have seen that shamrock green color that you speak of. I think it was 79 or 80. In Saskatchewan, we have the Sask. Roughriders CFL football team. Their colors are green and white!!! Sask. had a centenial that yr(1980) and the dealers(I assume)decaled up some trucks in that color. They are very hard to find today. Most were beat up farm trucks and or rusted to death. Not too many 30 yr old trucks survived up here that long with our harsh winters. I just bought another 1980 Silverado (brown and copper w/copper rallies) w/ 350/turbo 400 for parts that has the Sask. centenial decals on the rear boxsides.

Re: New to the website

yes the shamrock green was rare in that form!! I think it was 79 only ,, and my blue 79 454 has the chevy sport hood ornament that I installed back then when you could still by one from gm.. just to be differant...
