Changing A/C from R12 to R134

I've got a replacement compressor, condenser, and dryer and ready to install with new hoses. The question is, what else do I need to change to run R134. The A/C unit is an old Fridgette that has been on the truck. Do I need to change anything else ?

Did you buy all the new stuff because its required to switch to r134? Ive got a factory under dash unit that still work, just needs charged. I will be watching this thread to see what all I will have to change out to get mine going.

looks like you have everything you will need,have some hoses made up and vacuum and charge the system and you will be cooling good...and if you need to add oil use the PAG oil or equilivent

The York style compressor that was on there had bad seals and R12 is hard to get in California. I got a new comrpressor and condensor because it was designed for R134 and can handle the higher pressure/temps. The new compressor is supposed to take less power to run than the old one.

The new style compressor and the tag says not at add any oil to it. I just didn't know if you had to change the orafice or not.

your orifice should be good, gm has used the ccot (closed system orifice tube) system for the past 50 plus years to date and the only thing different about the r134a is it takes just slightly less (20%) r134a than r12. i have changed over dozens of systems over the years and have not run into any problems.
