1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
Just found 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall/Surburban. 100% original, 1 owner and seems to run well. It has a working PTO winch that I was told is a factory special-order item. The seller is asking $2,500. Any thoughts as to how rare this vehicle is? Or what it may be worth?

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
Is it a rust bucket? If its in good shape body wise, 4 wheel drive works, runs well, and all original sounds like a decent deal to me...

Not a rust bucket. Eveything works, I was curious about the winch and if that might make it somewhat rare or unusual or add to its value?

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
Any pictures? Sounds like a good deal if no rust and everything works. Winch may be a dealer install, I doubt it was installed at the factory.

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
Sorry I don't have any pictures. I am a new user, I just found this web-site while trying to do some research on this vehicle. I'm still curious about the PTO winch. I have not seen any similiar vechiles with a PTO winch. Still undecided, Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
Not sure about the production numbers, but one owner trucks are rare as can be. Worth is entirely dependent on condition, so it's hard to say with no info.
This is just a guess, but I'm thinking the truck is probably not worth messing with, and you should just PM me with the owners phone number. ...Seriously though, pm me if you decide not to persue it. Thanks and good luck! |

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
What does that mean? I can't find a similar vehicle with a PTO winch. Does it add to the value or not?

my 4 x4 panel came with a pto. though it was taken off over 20 years ago some sob seemed to have wanted it and stole it from me. 4 x 4 panels had much lower production #s than 4 x 4 suburbans and I don't feel that it is rare. maybe when there is only a real handful of something made should it perhaps be regarded as rare and only a couple remain ron |

Looks like a pretty decent Burb.
So does this mean you talked the wife into it?

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
I don't know what the color is called. I do know that it is the original factory paint and it looks pretty good for being 50 years old.

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
I can't say that I understand my wife's logic, but she seems to think that three trucks is enough for one guy. Huh ?? Anyway, If I was going to get this truck, it would be to have a little fun, and flip it for a small profit (?) fairly soon. I think a better idea is to let another member here grab a cool 4X burb that he or she wants to own. It looks to have potential, and somebody here needs to check it out in the flesh. (pun intended with that wonderful GMC color)
I think this Willy fellow will sell his truck soon, so better make a move... now GO! Last edited by oem4me; 08-07-2011 at 07:14 PM. |

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
Maybe try this "pitch" with the wife - show her this thread and how it's EASILY worth what the guy is asking - and say you'll re-sell it for a profit. Suburbans are like puppies, wives fall in love with them once they are home. Next thing you know, you have a new truck and it looks like it was the spousal unit's idea to keep it!
But then again, I'm no longer married.... |

Re: 1962 GMC 4x4 Carryall
That looks like a Braden winch. I have one on my K10. It would be a dealer installed or retailer installed option. There's literature on this winch in my 63 Silver Book. The Silver book was made availible to GM truck dealers to show clients non factory installed options. There were other winch companies listed as well.
look at post #4 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=397681
