Transmission/Odometer Question

I have 1970 SWB. But the odometer/speedometer does not work. i know its not the gauge panel because i took a look where the cable that connects to the transmission and gears in there. and it doesn't spin. everything appears to be in there well. Any help/suggestions.

Keep in mind i have a 400TTH Tanssmission SB 350 Engine. the axle was custom made to fit the chevy transmission and the Ford 9 inch differential.
Please help

Re: Transmission/Odometer Question

Raise the rear of the truck. Remove the speedo cable from the trans. With the trans. in neatral put a tiny srewdriver in the hole in the gear. Turn the driveshaft & see if the screwdriver turns. If not remove the bolt holding the gear holder & pull itb from the trans. Inspect the gear & the gear inside the trans. If one or both are stripped they will need to be replaced. It posible the inner gear came loose on the shaft & moved away. You have to pull the drive shaft & rear houseing to get to the inner gear.
