Air Cleaner Duct (intake tube, fresh air, etc.)

I need a stock intake duct for a 1983 Chevrolet C10 (305/350).
It a appears they're the same for 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 & 1984.
I checked a few places online, but nobody seems to stock them.
LMC has one in their catalog, but its not in stock.

Anyone know where to get one?
Have one you'll let go?

I'm probably going to have to hit junk yards. Let me know. Thanks!

Re: Air Cleaner Duct (intake tube, fresh air, etc.)

I have heard of people finding great parts for squares in and around Phoenix in junkyards, but in Tucson I have had no luck. Anything plastic or rubber around here is toast or the junkyards want as much as new parts. I got mine from Vintage parts. If you have the part number you can search their site online. They are not cheap but you know you are getting genuine GM parts (as least I always have.) Parts this old are usually discontinued by GM. Also, you can always search Ebay or Amazon - I have found some hard to find things that way, but be careful of the quality - sometime NOS items are really used.

Hit three yards and didn't find a single one, not even a trashed one. Pretty hot out there. May try a few more yards another day.

Not trying to be a wisenheimer, but you might be spending more on gas than just buying a new one - that's what I would do - unless you like sweating in the AZ sun and monsoon humidity. My duct hose was $32.15 from them including shipping. On the other hand, the little crankcase vent hose was $42.23 (with $13 shipping).

Re: Air Cleaner Duct (intake tube, fresh air, etc.)

Here is a link to the discussion we had here last year when I was looking for my duct. Randy provided a lot of good information:

My was P/N 14024596, but I don't think it will fit your small block.

The 89-91 ducts are shorter than the pre 89 ones. When I switched my core supports my 90 duct wasn't long enough to attach to the 88 and under core support piece. It was like 4" to short. It has to do with the "pod" that the newer core supports had attached, vs the older ones where there is just a deflector that attaches to the support.

Yes, but that one kind of looks like it goes into a cone shape toward the core support. I don't believe mine was cone shaped right there. Could just be the picture angle or something I never noticed before.
