Radio advice w/ no cutting
So I have been driving my truck for a couple of months and am very confident in how it runs now so, I figure it is safe to put in a working radio, I didn't want that distraction in the beginning. Can anyone offer help on a radio that would bolt right in with no cutting? It doesn't have to be the best but at least decent , a CD player isn't a requirement but would be nice, however I would like an aux jack for iPod or phone thanks for any help with this!

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
A CD will not fit thru the dash opening, so it will have to be something that is under dash, in glove box.

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
You can get these on ebay, LMC and several other places. Their OK but not great, there is no dimmer on the display & it's annoying at night. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1312719462

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
Or... You could cut your dash and have all that new fangled technology right at your fingertips.... These trucks are far from rare and the dash is easy enough to repair if you would ever want to.

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
I guess it depends on your needs and tastes, Screamin is cut, very clean DIN installation, while Bessie my '67 A/C truck has her factory unit still in place. We butchered the Chevelles dash for round gauges and a DIN, its just a personal preference thing I guess.
Another good way to go would be a glove box install with a remote velcro'd to the dash, or tethered to the seat. Center console below the dash with a DIN mounted facing the seat.... etc. I would stay away from the "specialty" stereos as they are not of the best quality and cost a small fortune.

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
i dont have any pictures because mine isnt finished yet, but a cd player fits in the A/C control cutout. and since it is all cables anyway im using some universal choke cables from edelbrock and mounting a chrome plate where the original radio was, that will hold the 3 cables and control all of the heater functions. cost is under 40 bucks. and no cutting of the original dash metal.

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
Don't know what you want to spend but Brothers and a lot of the sites sell upgraded models that look and fit the stock dash. Here's a link to Brothers. http://www.brotherstrucks.com/prodin...number=CS06300

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
When I got my truck it had a radio/tape deck in that fit perfectly without cutting. The original radio was on the floor so when I re-did my cab I took the original radio and put that in, but didn't hook it up. I put a nice Alpine in the glove box, which was alright. Kinda stunk when someone called and you needed to turn it down. So right now I have that radio/tape deck just sitting around. When I took it out it worked just fine putting a tape deck in and running my ipod off that. If you can't find something that strikes your fancy, I can take a couple pics of it and see if you wanted that.

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
With out cutting the dash other than an older model shaft type cassette/am/fm radio your pretty well out of luck. No CD radios that I know of with the shaft mounting. I actually pulled my Custom AutoSound USA-1 and installed an orginal factory AM/FM unit I found at a swap meet. Total cost was right at $500 buying the radio and getting it re-built and a new replacement speaker. I just really wanted the stock am/fm which are rather hard to find. Not turning this into a for sale ad but PM me if you want to know more about the Custom Auto Sound radios. Some people like them, some people don't. Mine worked "all right" but just wanted the AM/FM unit.

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
Has anyone ever put a radio in the Buddybucket storage area ? Thats my current plan when my truck is done with a power antenna in the front passenger side bed pocket. Then Im going to have to learn how to load music onto an mp3 player as Im technologically challenged.

Re: Radio advice w/ no cutting
Have you checked out Crutchfield? They have a few shaft-style chassis from $49 to $289. The $49 one has aux input too if you want to go cheap.
