Found a junk 66 SWB today...

Looks like it may have been a forestry service truck. 1966 short, wide bed. Nice list of options. I didn't have my camera with me but i took a few pics of what i grabbed with only 1/2 hour before they closed. The GM rocker was on the seat. Is that the correct number for 66? The 2 wheels were on a truck next to it. 8.25x16.5 I will get pics of the truck next time if it is still there. Posi was gone............... Enjoy the pics.

Wow a NOS rocker from a wrecking yard! That's the best part of your parts score IMO. Nothing wrong with the rear end and wheels.......

I am pretty sure this was original to the truck. However, it was sitting on the floor of the truck. I want to say i have seen spids on this vintage before, but can't swear by it..
Captainfab, the rocker was lying on the seat and i assumed it was aftermarket until i rolled it over. If the truck doesn't get squished, i will try to grab more parts and pics.

So that is the correct number for a 66 rocker panel? Any idea on value? How many years interchange?
Thanks.

Re: Found a junk 66 SWB today...

Its so ****ED that they do that. It makes me really sad, just think how many ****ty fake plastic cars there are out there and they go and do something like that.

Theres probably more cars then people and they still make more and more every year. Its all about the money. It should be about helping other and the earth
And 90% of them burn fossil fuels................I could go on. Im sorry, That picture just really upset me
I wanna back up to that truck, hook on to it throw it in 4x4 low granny gear and get rescue it from the pile
Oh well, Thats reality for ya and its not even the tip of the iceberg

Oh, dose anybody know if the bumper on the truck on top of the 63 is original?
Looks just like the one on my 66

Re: Found a junk 66 SWB today...

The bumper above looks to be original. Although mine is a stepside, the bumper looks very similar to the one that came on my truck, which was listed on the original dealer order form.

Seeing everything piled up like that reminds me of a mint condition original owner 1950 dark blue Studebaker I tried to buy from a wrecking yard back around 1970. They wanted $75, which took me two weeks to save up. I raced back to the yard only to find a 56 Buick Roadmaster parked on the roof. What a waste. My wild excitement turned on me and just made me feek sick to my stomach.

Right now, with the value of scrap, and all the CL ads that they'll haul off your junker and give you cash, has really pulled a lot of barn finds out to just get crushed.

Actually, i know the yard owner quite well and he does know what stuff is worth somewhat. Bad thing is it isn't worth enough to give up storage space to wait for someone like me to pull parts. He has to keep rolling his money over. I try to get out there once a week, but still isn't soon enough sometimes...
