Compressor questions

Im slowly piecing together a bag system for my truck. Airlift 2600s up front and 2500s in back, 5 gallon tank. Im not going to be raising and lowering the truck often, basically get it where I want and set it. I traded some parts and picked up a pair of Viair 380Cs. I hadn't planned to run dual compressors, but Im questioning myself since I have two. Any reason I need dual compressors with this setup?

Re: Compressor questions

You don't really "need" the second compressor but you may want to use it anyway. With the 5 gallon tank you should be able to get 1 to 1.5 full lifts before the compressor kicks on. The average recovery time would be reduced considerably with a second compressor. The Viairs are know for reliability, but if one does fail you have a back to keep you going.

Re: Compressor questions

Does a second compressor effectively cut the recovery time in half or does it work differently?

Re: Compressor questions

I have no hard facts on the actual recovery time. With the two working together its "should" be about half the recovery time. From what I know thats not completely accurate because a percentage of the efficiency will be reduced from one source pushing against the other.

Re: Compressor questions

I would run both since you have them, trust me, you can never have too much air and it never recovers fast enough.

Ditto...and it's not really half the time with 2 compressors, but it does make a nice difference. I only have 1 450 right now, and it takes about 10 minutes to recover. It feels like forever.
