Re: My 17 y/o Daughters C-10 Build
More pics ..... Here is the way it looked when we brought it home. And the agreement was that I would not turn a wrench on the truck unless she was helping. so I never worked on the truck unless she was there to help. This is her first vehicle and she wanted a truck. I told her we might be able to get it done by the start of her senior year.... Guess what we finished it yesterday!!!!

I wonder how many boys are going to want to be her friend all of a sudden?

We took all the body parts off so we could see what we had to work with.

Re: My 17 y/o Daughters C-10 Build
Here we took pics of the rear cross members and the rear of the frame after we got the bed off. we then took off the cab and started to clean sand and use POR-15 on the frame. Looking back if I had it to do over... I'd had the frame powder coated...but when you are on a budget .... well you know.

Re: My 17 y/o Daughters C-10 Build
To my very surprise the engine was as clean as a whistle inside. It needed absolutely nothing... It had new rods and valves the bottom crank looked totally new and because of this I was stumped???? So I called the man the we purchased the truck from and the story is one of shock... He owns a roofing co. and did a job for a lady who paid him with the truck. The truck belonged to her husband who was in the process of restoring the truck when he passed away.
So the engine had already been rebuilt!!! WOW how lucky was my daughter. |

Re: My 17 y/o Daughters C-10 Build
I am glad to see the daughters get involved too !!
my daughter and I had a lot of good times with our project and still are having fun cruising around and continuing with the build. My daughter drives her 64 to school as her daily driver . Every body at her school knows who is driving it!! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=365170 It is kinda hard to hide when you are driving in a sweet custom truck!! Hard to believe that was a new motor and they bolted all the rusty stuff back on it....... that is a nice extra!!!!

Re: My 17 y/o Daughters C-10 Build
I feel the same way you do. And this truck is also her daily driver. She was so excited yesterday when I gave her the keys. She couldn't believe it was really done.... Me neither(lol)

Re: My 17 y/o Daughters C-10 Build
And now for the body work. We didn't do anything special just smoothed out all of the bad spots/rust and holes. we did have to replace the inner and outer rockers. patch the dash where the stereo was, and fill the antenna hole on the cowl piece. We also closed up the body seam around the hood for a smoother line. and added a fuel door on the driver side rear fender.

The paint color she chose was GM Indago Blue Met and a custom Silver pearl for the top and dash.

We simply took off the old and added new or cleaned and painted what needed to be painted.
