New 2 me 1964

Picked this up about 2 weeks ago.

Inside of bed was coated with the spray in bed liner and painted over in the same blue as the truck. I didn’t like the blue color in the bed so I painted it black. has no wood bed floor (I have a new wood kit…just waiting on the stainless strips to come in)
I put new sun visors inside. New steering wheel (had a small hot rod steering wheel on it), new window cranks. Installed the black CHEVROLET on the tailgate and Grill (actually wife did that…I don’t have a steady hand). The truck had a roll pan on the back so I got a new rear bumper and a new front bumper to match. Painted the tailgate chains. Has a 350 with a 700R4 transmission in it. Probably going to pull the motor this fall/winter, paint it and detail the engine bay...not so clean under the hood.

I'm sure I will be reaching out to some ya'll in the near future...and I welcome all opinions/feedback!

Re: New 2 me 1964

thanks! there is rust in the bottom fenders (both sides) and when i got it, it had 2 of those lovely bullet hole stickers on it. i removed 1...lucked out....nothing under it. started to remove the other (just happens to be on the hood)....well, has a nice little hole there where someone drilled just a bit too far when putting the hood brackets on. so i left the sticker for now. will probably get the 2 bottom fenders replaced and in primer as well as that small hole in the hood....has to look better than a bullet hole sticker.

Re: New 2 me 1964

That sure is a great lookin truck.......nice, rich blue.
Interior looks great.
I just got finished repairing a dash-hack issue.
I don't think I have any "before" shots....I'll look.
But after the "fix", I installed a "hy-brid"....half-breed radio.
I took an aftermarket vintage, knob style radio.....hacked the cassette assy out of it....bypassed the tape-deck wiring....and then grafted a OE '63 GMC radio bezel onto the face of it.
It has a good sound to it, although it is only an AM/FM.....but it looks pretty good.
Made some knobs out of some extras I had...
Anyway, I didn't mean to get sidetracked....

We're all glad you came over.

Re: New 2 me 1964

I have a friend of mine that can fix factory radios (he can fix them to just play AM, AM/FM, AM/FM with iPod connection). He installs a new board in the radio housing...uses knobs and push buttons for controls. I had him fix an original 1951 radio for a 51 truck i had (sold it worked great...and i loved the original look. that is what i would like to do for this truck. maybe sometime later...for sure.

thanks TSmith .......nice stepside!

Re: New 2 me 1964

I had a factory blue truck briefly and that looks brighter. there are a lot of colors close to that but it really looks like porsche riviera blue to me. I had an isuzu with that color on it (not factory) and in photos it looks a little darker like above, but in person its like an easter egg just bright bright bright blue.
