Radiator

I installed a serpentine system on my 350 this weekend, when I went to re-install my 4 core radiator and electric from (out of a 96 Camaro) they wouldn't fit. I only have about 4 and a half inches from the water pump pulley to radiator. I was wondering what is a good company to buy an aluminum radiator and electric fan setup from. Also it needs to be a skinny radiator, size of a one or 2 core.

I'm running a serp setup, with a 2 row staggered 1 1/2" tube aluminum radiator, with an Intrepid fan. I have a medium modded 357 ci (375 hp, 440 ft lbs). I never see temps over 190. It clears with about 2-3" at the tightest point. I used to have a s10 with a small block, and I ended up cutting and modding the core support to forward mount the radiator for fan clearance. I'll try to find pics this afternoon when I get home.

What brand radiator are you running? Also does it have a tranny cooler?

I'm running a serpentine system, too. I purchased this Champion off of E-Slay which included two 12-inch fans. I bought a fan controller separately for, like, $40.

I can't attest to the cooling, since my truck is not up and running yet. And, I'm mocking up the core for the rad. right now. A little fabbing is necessary. But it will fit nicely.

But, for $280 for the whole set up, I think, the price was right. And I CAN report that the workmanship on the radiator (welds, etc.) is very good.

i bought a 4 core from advance and a serpentine setup from 86 truck. I have about 4 inches clearance.. You must be running long water pump?

i got that problem too! i got a griffin radiator 2 3/4 thick 90's modle serpt. and leaves me about 3 1/4 " total for a shroud + fan ...help! i dont mean to hijack the thread .just need help too..jw

I have the stock radiator with AC on mine with the jeep fan conversion and it is working well, I am putting a pusher fan on the condensor to help with the heat transfer.

Wish I could help. Mine has a lot of room right now. But this isn't the preferred way to go down the road.

Were there two mounting positions for V8s? I have a factory 3 core radiator, so it's a little bit thinner, but I have enough room to run the factory HD shroud and conventional clutch fan without being uncomfortably snug anywhere.

maybe i have my mounts in the wrong holes . wich of these holes are you in? i'm in the 1st one.if i move them back to the next ones it would be 2/12" more room. but i don't have my cab on the frame yet. would there be enough room between motor and firewall? jjorgensen looks like in your pic you may be mounted back further back then me. thanks for yall's replies. hope not to upset smokeyo2 to be asking questions on his thread...johnny

I'm set in the second set (further back) which puts my motor pretty close to the firewall - so far as I know that's the original location, everything else on my truck is as it came from the factory.
