1969 GMC 6bolt with 71-72 5 bolt donor ???
just to start off thanx for any help i get..i have a 1969 gmc 6 bolt and i have a 71-72 5 bolt donor. now do i want to keep my stock front crossmember and just swap out the A arms and spindles for the 71-72 or do i swap out the whole crossmember?? thanx for all the help again...from looking on the forum it looks like you can do both im wanting to know what one is best? more easy safer _ or +

I just swapped the upper/lower a-arms spindles and brakes and all on my 65

Sometimes it's easier to swap it as a unit if it's ready to go 'as-is'. If you're rebuilding as you go, swapping the parts over is the way I would do it as well.

IF you plan on having the motor out, or it's already out, it would be easier to swap the entire front cross member as one unit. I think it's only 4 bolts that hold it in. If you're doing it with the motor still in, like I did, just swap everything from the a-arms out. Don't forget all the steering components. They are different.
