Lowering with custom height springs
Greetings all ! Im building a 1965 swb C10 and have conflicting info on whether to use springs or dropped spindles for front.Id like to be at -3" from stock height and -4" rear, but do not want to compromise handling or performance.Im using an 1981 front end.
Id sure appreciate help on this,Im putting it all back togather this week and rather do it all once Thanks in advance , Lenguini Last edited by lenguini; 08-09-2011 at 09:43 PM. Reason: question and need help |

Re: Lowering with custom height springs
3 inch drop springs will beat your guts out IMO i would go with the 2.5 or 3.0 drop spindles and they doesn't screw up your alignment like the drop springs

Re: Lowering with custom height springs
you will somewhat gain handling with springs, but ride will be compromised. If you have the scratch, do a 2" spindle, and a 1" spring, or as close to that as you can get, and get the best of both worlds

Re: Lowering with custom height springs
Spindles first to maintain the geometry. Lowering springs or trim the current coils (1-coil max) for the rest of the drop desired.

Re: Lowering with custom height springs
The truck I bought had 3" dropped springs and rode like total crap. My wife wouldn't even ride in it. I went with CPP 2" drop modular spindles and a set of stock springs (take outs off my '68) and cut half a coil off, for 1" drop. Had 3" total, same as the 3" springs where. Rides like a completely different truck. Both of us are very happy with the ride now... at least in the front. Still need to take care of the rear.

Re: Lowering with custom height springs
...front... 2 1/2 dropped spindles and 1" drop springs with sway bar..rear....3" drop springs. when it settled to it's final ride hight it was close to a 4/4 drop...
