My first of many ToDo's

First off, I am loving this website. Everyone is so helpful. I recently purchased my '64 GMC Wide Side over 1 month ago. It is my daily driver and am excited to have a new toy.

I install a new composite wood floor over the weekend. It was a lot easier than expected... Thanks to two really good friends and some BudLight. Please let me know what you "honestly" think. I'm a big boy, so I can handle it.

I would appreciate other suggestions on making this truck unique. I am currently making a couple of custom LED retrofits for the existing tail/Brake lights. I already have them set in the thermal epoxy to weather seal them. Hopefully bright enough with over 136 LEDs per housing. I will post pics of those once I have them installed.

That floor looks great! I like the reduction of strips and equal spacing as well. It looks both unique and attractive.

Thanks Marke. We definitely had fun while putting this in. I consider myself really lucky to only had to relocate the hole on 2 of the strips while everything else fit perfectly.

Here are some more pics of the truck. I paid $1300 for the truck and other than the bed have only replaced the dry rotted tires with new ones. I think I got a decent deal, but I don't know. I definitely love the granny gear. This thing is strong.

My kids call it my "Bucket."

the bed looks great. is that composite stuff cheaper than regular wood? if so, imma have to look into that. that paint scheme looks killer. i would keep it. looks like you got the carb issue figured out. whats next?

Thanks for the comments WC63 and everyone else! This is a composite wood. I was actually looking for a dark wood that is commonly sold at H. Depot, but I just happen to be walking through Lo's and found this 12"x1". It worked out great. This stuff is easy to deal with.

I'm not really sure bout the next step... I wanna repair some fender braces that are rusted out and some body damage on the right rear over the wheel.

I would really like to do some research on hooking up power steering, but don't know which parts are needed. I have been reading up on it, but there is too much info going around and i'm a tad bit confused.

The composite is a very good idea, a lot less trouble to get ready to install and a lot easier to maintain. Here is my gmc bed with black pine and it was a PITA GMCs' rule

Love the bed man! PS conversion is easy, Captn Fab has some brackets that will allow you to slip a 73-87 power steering box on the frame, then you will need to cut your steering shaft and put an adapter to reconnect it.

My friends ask how can you do that it's so much work? And they wouldn't know where to start. I tell them how do you eat an Elephant? One bite at a time. One thing at a time and before you know it your done. Bed looks great!!!
