Brake question
With all new master cylinder, brake lines/hoses, booster, prop valve. How long should it take to bleed them? I've been going for a decent amount of time and still can't get the pedal to come up. I need to know if i keep going or if I have a bigger problem.

Re: Brake question
It can take some time to bleed the air out of the system, especially the rear brakes.
You may want to loosen the lines (one at a time) on the outlet side of the prop valve just to make sure that fluid is getting past it. Jim

Re: Brake question
Starting with the rear it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes of pumping. That's by the push and hold method. I just did mine and bled all the brakes in about 30 minutes. If you're doing by a different method I'm not sure.
If you have followed the directions exactly including prepping the master cylinder before you installed it than you may have a defective master cylinder. If this is a completely new (conversion) installation, then double check all the link adjustments. |

Re: Brake question
I did end up getting them bled. I needed to adjust my linkage going to the booster. It wasn't engaging the master cylinder plunger enough and i wasn't get a deep enough stroke on the master cylinder to build up any pressure. I am running the under dash setup from Scott's Hotrods there was a bunch of other variables that i wasn't sure about. I also just needed to have a little more patience because there is about 4 miles of brake line on a Suburban... I made ALL of the brake lines from scratch and have never bled a completely new system so I was trying to figure out how long it should take so i would know when to start looking for problems outside of just the brake lines.
