truck rallies

I know the aftermarket sells the 5 on 5" lug corvette style..

I've found 9) 6" wide(or maybe they are 7")
and 3) 8" wide truck rallies

what years and app's was the 8" wide rallies on..
was it mostly vans.. or silverados??
gonna be doing a junkyard crawl. and like to up my chances of getting the 8" before I try pulling it off the vehicle, as it's hard to tell with the tire on..
any notable difference to spot the 8" right off the bat..
like the pontiac t/a snowflake wider wheel has a 1" outer lip..
thanks for any tips on what to look for..

Re: truck rallies

8" was generally on the pickups. If you saw the difference side by side you would know just by the trim rings or the amount of dish. I think they come in 6.5", 7", and 8"

Re: truck rallies

I used Wheel Vintiques 'Vette-style rallye wheels on my '69, in a 6-lug, and the same style, but 16-inch vs 15-inch, on my '96...in a 5-lug. I wanted 16's, or I'd have rolled those truck rallye's.

Re: truck rallies

Vans and the High Sierra/Scottsdale trimmed trucks came with the smaller ralleys, the silverado/Sierra Classic came with the 8" wide ones when they had HD suspension or were the "heavy half" trucks. I believe this is correct. This was my observation in the 80's when I worked at a dealer

Re: truck rallies

The 8's have a 3" deep trim ring on them. I don't believe the others are that deep. They don't look too bad color matched either!

Re: truck rallies

IIRC they have the size stamped on the back of the wheel?? If you see any lying around off a truck just rub the dirt off and hope you score.
