What to look for?
Ok guys, I'm looking at an '84 GMC High Sierra, crew cab, long bed 3/4 ton 2wd to buy as my daily driver. I've checked it out a little and I'm going back to look it over and test drive it. I do know that the inner fender wells are rusted where the mounting bolt is (no biggie), and there is some rust over the passenger side rear wheel well. I believe the truck is wearing the original paint, but I haven't been able to verify that 100%. Don't know the history yet. I was hoping you guys could point out some trouble spots for me to check when I go back for the test drive.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: What to look for?
Bottom of the doors, behind the door thresh holds and below the air intake screen by the wipers are the starting areas for rust. If it has a sliding rear window cab corners will likely have rust. If it has inner fender well rust at the back of the front wheels you will be gambling on whats behind them.
After that you will be looking to use someone's gas card |
