For you Air Ride guys....
no matter what your set up is (MII, S10, Clip, etc)
what bag size (diameter in inches) are you guys running up front??? Im putting my '50 on an s10 frame (350/700r4) and just ordered some Slam RE7s (yesterday), but am wondering about the ride with the larger bag. it was between the RE6 or RE7. i went with the RE7 based on "here say" from the s10 forum...but what i DONT want it tooooo soft a ride. Some say a 6" dia. bag rides too stiff do to higher PSI at ride height and the 7" dia. bag rides smoother. Im not building some 450hp motor, but i do drive pretty hard at times and dont want a "floaty boat/old caddy" feel, but dont want to be too rough up front either. Thanks, Chris

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
BTW, the only reason i'm asking now is QAR is still "processing" my order so i still have some time to change it (maybe today) if i need.
THanks

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
It all depends on how it is setup, shocks, etc. Id go with the bigger bag and fine tune it later to how you want it to ride. If its too soft you can always change shocks to something stiffer later.

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
Hi, my truck is still in the mock -up stage but i have and will be running re6's in the front and re7's in the rear. My truck is on an '89 s-10 frame with 350/700r4 also. I got a good deal on my bags from a friend of mine who had them laying around (still brand new for half the price) I had thought about running re7's on front but the deal was to good to pass up and also the re7's require alot more work to fit them in the pocket and not have them rub. I have rode in vehicles with both types in the front and both seem to do just fine.

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
Good post as I am at that stage also. Has anyone tried those Shockwaves in the front of an S10? I am going to put tubular a-arms on but am not sure I want an air suspension.

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
my understanding (someone correct me) is shockwaves ride great, but dont have near the lift a normal type bag does. and i THINK the shockwaves "travel" needs to be straight, not in an "arc" motion...but i may be wrong.

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
The 7" (SS-7 or RE7) Slam bag would be my personal preference on an S10 frame with a V8 to provide the best ride. The RE6 will work, but the pressure it required to handle the load of the V8 will provide a rather stiff ride. Couple with a good set of shocks you will be very happy with the RE7. You will need to offset the bag on the cup towards the spindle about 1/2" and clearance the frame/spring pocket.

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I only want the "right" stance on the truck, then it will stay there. No laying frame or anything. I do not want it to handle like a ship. The truck has over 600hp, so I want a smooth ride without a bunch of wheel hop if I ever decide to burn them off.

I would use re-7s to re-8s. IMO re-6's are def a no. I have them on the front of my s10. They take alot more psi to get a decent lift. Im going to swap them one day to a bigger bag. |

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
Thanks all. I talked to Ricky & he also said the RE7s were the way to go. As for QAR processing time...I placed the order yesterday & today received an email saying they sent a package out. Guess we will see.

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
They are generally good on other stuff, if its in stock. It just the parts they make that take forever.

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
I'd be curious to see how the S-10 frame guys are running their front shocks. I'm ready for shocks on mine but would like to see what other folks are doing.

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
this is my favorite idea, using some tubbing and "sink" the shocks into the frame. |

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
the tubing/sink into frame is what i plan on doing. hopefully be able to maintain full turning radius with that. (depending on wheel/tire combo)

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
and for the record to elaborate on what layedoutsonoma91 said abt QAR and order processing...I ordered my front bags and cups last thursday (8/11) and got the cups in yesterday (8/15). The bags area a "drop ship" thing so those will take a little longer. but everything i've ordered from QAR/***************** ive always received in a timely manner not to mention how helpful those guys can be.
I'm not picking on layedoutsonoma91, just didn't want any new forum members to think they are a bad company, cause they are not. BTW, the s10 front bag cups are awesome! look great AND come powder coated!

Re: For you Air Ride guys....
Oh trust me, i used to only use them for everything! They have super high quality stuff. I just can't stand buying anything they have to make. When i get ready to order stuff, i can't wait 5 months for it. I need it when i ordered it. Im not knocking their quality. of course anything they drop ship wont be an issue. They just left me with a bad taste the last time i ordered from them. I was told 3 weeks max at time of ordering and got it over 4 months later. I have had multiple friends deal with the same thing. Just trying to save someone else my headaches.
