Gotta love truck shippers!!!!

I bought a blazer in Oregon, and went through Uship, guy gave me a decent bid, then told me he was going to drive it, I told him it didn't run and I had add that way. Then he said he was going to tow bar it, and I only accepted bid if he was going to haul it. So he told me he was going to rent a trailer, and then told Tom he was going to buy a trailer. He sat up time to pick it up and never showed or called. So I called him, finally on the past Sun he responds saying his tranny was going out and couldn't get to the blazer for a couple weeks. I don't think he has a trailer. Now he is saying he wants 50% down to get it here, I never agreed to that, I paid Uship fees and was to pay him the rest when delivered. Sorry just a little pissed right now

If it doesn't work out I know a guy local to Dallas that is getting his hot shot business going and could probably give you a good rate to trailer it home. He has a pretty nice rig and trailer.

I had the same thing happen with Northwest Auto Transport. The guy showed up to load my pickup and blazer and wanted an extra $300. I said, nope. Man was he pi$$ed.

Wow! this guy sounds like a real screwball!! What does Uship have to say about this? most of these places are just brokers and dont have there own drivers anyway..maybe they can get someone else on it. Hope it works out for you soon.

Re: Gotta love truck shippers!!!!

Randy congrats on finding a blazer. Put it back up there for bids and I'm sure there will be other bidders. Heck, it took awhild but i eventaually had two or three bidders to haul my k1500 here from Oregon and that was during the winter. August through october is probably the best time to haul things. Fewer thunderstrorms, no snow, lower temps, etc..

USHIP won't do jack for you. They pretty much suck. Never pay in advance either. Once they some money they'll jack you around with every excuse in the book - if they return your call / emails.

Re: Gotta love truck shippers!!!!

I don't think I'll ever use Uship again, I had good luck the first 2 times, but this time this guy is a dandy (actually have another name for him but can't post it on here), he has every excuse possible and tries to make it sound like I was the one giving him the run around. Uship don't refund your money they keep there fees, which was $140 so you can use it for another shipment, but I will probably just mark that off as a loss

Re: Gotta love truck shippers!!!!

I used Uship several times with great success and then after not using them for a couple of years I used them and the whole experience sucked. I don't know whether they are just allowing anyone to bid on the shipments now or what. First bid I accepted ended up being cancelled after the shipper guy got his account suspended. Since uship already had my deposit I rebid it out and went with DAS which I had used before. They were even higher than two other bidders but I figured I didn't want anymore problems than I already had. Complete cluster, didn't show up when they were suppposed to, didn't call nothing, then i was out of state at a wedding and they call and say they're at my house to get the motorcycle. Long story short, it took 4 1/2 weeks to get the bike delivered and after I left negative feedback for the lack of customer service, DAS retaliated with some negative feedback of their own. I feel your pain. If you can get hold of BenD from the HAMB, he might be able to hook you up depending on his schedule. He's the only one I'm going to use from here on out. If you need me to send you his number or email, just let me know.

We moved last November from Nor Cal (think 60 miles ABOVE the Napa Valley), down to So Cal (Think Palm Springs area).
Had a 6 week lead time. Then it turns out, my Wifes employer need her 3 weeks earlier.
My quote went up almost 50%.
The guy picked it up at my Front Door, and put it into a single Trailer by itself, and delivered it to my Front Door down there.
Bottom Line....$1700.00 to ship it 550 Miles.
and before you ask, nobody I know had a Trailer and no it wouldn't have made it on its own.
Fortunatley, I had just received a settlement and had the $$ to have it shipped.

Re: Gotta love truck shippers!!!!

I hate to say it but I have shipped and been the hauler with uship..you need to contact the shipper by phone (this means your using owner operators) if they have the curtisy to call from the min get go and have good feed back there shouldn't be any issues...I also INSIST that anything you ship with me should be insured by the OWNER as well as mine this will save any hassles if anything happens and ussually only cost a few $$....also I take pics of what ever is being moved before its loaded....if there is any damage I call the new owner to conferm that they know about it...this is a CYA for everyone

good luck

Re: Gotta love truck shippers!!!!

I used Nationwide auto shipping to ship from Southern California to White House Tennessee. Cost was $2400-but as long as they were shipped in an enclosed trailer and were not damaged, I was ok with it all. The 69 truck would have been fine to ship in an open trailer but I had to have the 67 Camaro shipped enclosed because it is in perfect shape with zero paint damage and has been that way for the last 15 years(ok 2 chips that I know of)anyways I took lots of pictures with time & date of both vehicles and had my daughter receive the vehicles and check their condition in Tennessee. The Camaro received zero damage but they damaged the hood on my truck. My daughter didn't notice the damage but after she sent pictures to me, I saw the damage. Unfortunately the driver had already been signed out and was backing out of the driveway when I called her back to let her know. I called the trucking company and spoke with the manager and he said I should have called and reported the damage right away-i explained I was 2000 miles away and only missed informing the driver by a few minutes but he said I was on my own. I called my insurence company and they said I was covered. So I thought I did everything right and it will all work out but just make sure if you ship, have someone really check things out before they sign for the goods.

Now that that has been said-Does anyone know a good body-paint shop around Nashville?

How much does it cost to ship a vehicle say from west coast (north), to St. Louis on average?
How long does it usually take?

Re: Gotta love truck shippers!!!!

I had my 69 shipped to Topeka from WA

Here's the result of that:

This was a company called Dependable Auto Shippers. When I contacted them about the damage, I got the run around for months. They said they couldn't prove the damage wasn't pre-existing and then finally, exhaust damage is covered.

First they made me clean out the bed (and it shows up with exhaust in it) and the one muffler was dragging on the ground. They know the damaged it (and obviously someone picked up the one side and put it in the bed). F'ers

My company moved me from Florida to Texas and they were paying for everything, I contacted Dependable Auto Shippers and got a quote. Forgot the price but they gave me the run around, rescheduled a couple times then the moving company that packed my house said they could move it inside the van trailer with my household goods. I was amazed at how well they packed everything around my truck, it turned out good for me.

I was very disapointed with DAS, the more phone calls I had with them the more uneasy I felt. They finally wanted me to leave my truck and pick it up after my wife and I started traveling to Texas, I said no way.

My company paid for the shipping on my truck too. I got my job right before we left WA, so I had already dropped my 69 off at a buddies house and at the time didn't know what I was going to do with it (also left the title with him). Turns out my company had it shipped to me. And it needed new exhaust anyways, but still...they ripped it off, they should have fixed it. Oh well, I got new exhaust for it myself.

I've heard fedex has a branch that ships vehicles. Probably not cheap but they are likely very reputable.
