Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
I'm thinking about an Astro myself. There used to be one running around my area with a TPI 305, lowered some with 18" wheels. Search google images, theres a lot there.

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
Here are some pictures. I think one done in the classic '70s van style would be cool. Noting over the top, just with big/littles and the right wheels would be cool.

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
I have never cared for those vans... my uncle has one that he uses to tow his 16' boat. Just about every one I have been in/around just rattles and feels like its about to fall apart regardless of what it looks like.

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
I know a guy who sells carpet who drove one 300,000 miles loaded with carpet samples. It was probably too loaded to rattle, but I always figured they were the best built mini-vans out there.

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
We had 2 of them in the 90s and never had any trouble at all with them.
I've seen some that look real nice as hot rods. Kim |

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
We had a beater one that went 234k and cracked a head on it, we traded it to a guy, he sold it and now its fixed and still running around. And it now gets 23 mpg. It got 20 all day long with us. It was a great van never left us stranded.

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
I had a 99 AWD Astro Van. I wish I would have never gotten rid of it. To me the styling is good, doesn't look like a typical "mini van" in my eyes. I put 199,000 miles on it.
I like bombing around in my little Scion, but would have no problems dumping it and going back to an Astro.

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
I told my wife, if it ever got to the point where we needed a mini van. That an Astro van was the only one I would consider.
I had a buddy that had a worked over 350 in his backed by a camaro 5 spd. Was a fun ride. Not sure whatever happened to it.

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
They are built like a regular van, only smaller. They made them for, what, about 20 years? If ain't broke don't fix it,right? Too bad they stopped.

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
I had a 91 astro, better van than any of my fullsizers. I used it for a post high-school CC road trip, started the trip with over 200,ooo musta been 12,ooo+ miles on the road and never a problem with it.
I'd trade my current Ram van for an astro in a second! |

Re: sure old but let see astro van pix
Here's my 88. It's bagged and shaved and rolls on 18" Centerline Archers. It's been really neglected sine I got the 63 though. Hoping to get some fresh primer/sealer on it sometime soon.
