Clutch Slave Cylinder Problems

Folks - need some input. Here is what i did, and I have no idea how or if I can fix it.

1994 chevy Z-71 with a 5 speed.
Having starter problems so I was going to try and get it out.
First i took the 2 bolts off the slave cylinder for clutch to pull it out and out of the way. Decided to hold tight on the starter work, so i put the slave cylinder back in and 2 bolts back on.

Got in the truck and the clutch had no pressure back, went to floor.
Let it back out and it is now very hard and will not even depress.
I suspected something was out of alignment at slave cylinder, so I tried about 2 or 3 times to take it out, put back in. Couldn't get the right angle to see in there to see what the deal was and I've not dealt much with these.

Can anyone give me some pics or tips on what i did wrong and if I can fix it or if the slave cylinder now needs to be replaced? I got to believe its an alignment problem of some sort, but again, this is new territory for me.

As always, many thanks!!!!!!
David
