Prob one of the strangest ideas that has been on here in a while! In the process of rebuilding the whole AC system on the 72 with factory air (and no I do not want to go to a Vintage Air system on this truck) and got the idea of deleting the HEATER but not the AC. In South Texas it doesn't get cold enough to warrant a heater in my project (not a daily driver, for sure not in winter) but I want the AC. Can I take the heater core out and fiberglass the holes in the box and after repainting it no one will be the wiser? Would I get more air flow for the AC or not? And is there parts of the stock box that I could take out then to save a little weight and make simpler? Thanks for considering and commenting

I don't know why you can't. After all, it's two holes on the outside, right? If they're gone there's no where for the core extensions to protrude.

You may have issues if you have to defrost/defog your windshield, but I don't know that for fact.

No reason that shouldn't work. Also, since the heater is sitting inside the cab and is full of hot water (unless you are running on "inside air") you should be cooler in the summer if you take it out.

I would leave it there & make it function for De-fog & De-ice purposes. When working right the Harrison Four Season A/C system works great. Check all vacuum servos, Make sure the Mode doors, Temp Blend door, & Recirculate doors Have full travel & replace all the rubber seals on the doors.

You will have better luck rebuilding the A/C case to stock specs...Than re-inventing/re-engineering it.

I rebuilt the whole inside of my truck to stock but, upgraded the outside to newer parts along with a sanden compressor, works really well, 38 degrees at night and 40 during the day. Also put on a pusher fan to keep the condersor cooler....
