Re: HELP with alt bracket please
Don’t know if this will help, but years ago I had a similar style on my 350. The pictures in the attached thread show how it mounted.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...rnator+bracket In the text I mention slotting the rear hole in the bracket to fit the manifold, but looking at the pictures again I realize I did that because the engine was running a Summers Brothers gear drive, which moved all the accessories forward ¼”. The mounting plate is visible behind the water pump and timing cover. |

Re: HELP with alt bracket please
Sometimes you will need a spacer where it bolts to the boss on the water pump. You may also need to slot the holes to be able to bolt it up.

Re: HELP with alt bracket please
looks like yours bolts in a different spot on water pump but might have to do the same thing i did here with the spacer.

Re: HELP with alt bracket please
I'm thinking that bracket is for a long style water pump.
You may also have to backspace at the adjustable mounting point to get it to line up properly ? T

Re: HELP with alt bracket please
The chrome ones I have gotten for my truck really don't line up well at all. I have tried two brands for the same application and they were vastly different in shape. Then add the intake variances and it can be a headache. Ended up having to bend the last one to square it up and space both water pump and intake. Going to take the factory stuff it had on it and get it powder coated.

Re: HELP with alt bracket please
there are actually two different top alternator brackets for the long water pump the 69 to 75 models and the 76 to 86 year models they both look very similar but when you put them side by side you can easily see the difference in off set and rear mounting point...hope this helps http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ALTER...item27bd88c31f and http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ALTER...item1c1e2adaf1
