What is this hose?

Am not sure what this hose is for. It is connected to the top of the differential. What does it do? You can see that it has broken in two. The other half is fastened to one of the bed rails.

Re: What is this hose?

Vent hose, yes.
It is best if they are intact and run at least as high as the stock location.

Boat towed to lake, trailer backed into lake at the boat ramp. Hot diff contacts cold water, air inside contracts and creates suction. Broken vent hose sucks lake water into diff housing...you get the picture...

If you are backing your truck far enough down in the water that the rear end is completely submerged, you are at the wrong boat ramp! Lol

Re: What is this hose?

Thanks for the responses. I guess I had never noticed this vent hose on previous trucks I have owned, 66, 71 and 72. Sure do miss those trucks, but that was before this group existed and I was on my own here in the jungle.
I will replace that hose, it has just disintegrated when I touched it.
Thanks again !

Re: What is this hose?

Can you use that breather hose to add more differential fluid?

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

The local lakes are full this year (until all that water goes down to So Cal), but it can get...interesting...in drought years.
