Frame-normal?

Hi, just picked up a '69 and have been reading these boards religiously the last two days. Can you guys tell me if the ladder where the panhard bar is mounted usually looks like that? I'm a newb, so sorry if this is a dumb question :/

Anything else you guys notice?

Yeah, they did a few goofy things I've noticed so far.

Here's the bed...

Re: Frame-normal?

Yep it's supposed to be crooked. After I chopped my frame into pieces and put it all back together I thought had done something wrong, then I figured out that it is supposed to be that way. Here are pics of mine

Not the best pics, but you can see how the crossmember sits crooked.

Re: Frame-normal?

Just for clarification I am talking about the crossmember that the panhard mount attaches to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panhard_rod
I had to look it up.

Sorry to put words in your mouth, but like the people that asked above, are you asking if it should look crooked? The answer to that is yes. The crossmember is supposed to look crooked.

Now if there's something else that you are asking, you may need to rephrase the question and be specific on what you think may be wonky.

Re: Frame-normal?

Yeah, just wanted to make sure the cross support where the panhard rod is attached to is supposed to be cockeyed like that. I ripped off the bed, took the pic and didn't think twice about it until I looked at the picture on my computer and nearly dropped a brick

Thanks guys, will have my build thread started tonight!

Picked up a vortec 5.3/4l60-e the other day with all but ecm and headers for $450, so that's what's going in
