I have used it on 3 frames so far and had no issues, the first frame was done over two years ago and still looks good. I have just recently made custom railings for my deck and sprayed it with zero rust, turned out great.

The people over at the autobodystore forum swear by that stuff an use it over por 15. When you shoot it spray it on THIN even coats to help with the drying/curing better. This is the only thing I'm gona use.

Re: Any Zero Rust users out there? Need feedback

Yep, I've read similar. I've also read that (from ZR I think) the Red and Black are of equal quality. If wanting a black (satin I think) finish, to use the Red colored product for the first coat. Then when applying the second coat to use the Black. This allows the operator to see coverage better, allowing for accurate measurement of application. And yep, I read about applying thinly for procurement of the first coat - and then wait about 1/2 hour to 40 minutes before applying the second coat.

The problem I might have - my frame/parts were all sandblasted and primed for cab (and other) work. I think I'll have to try my best to remove the primer before applying ZR.

What do you guys think? If I put ZR right on top of the primer, do you think the primer will flake over the years? I know it isn't the best thing to do especially when ZR says to apply to bare metal - but some areas I won't be able to completely remove the primer. My first thoughts are - don't apply on top of primer - it needs to react to the metal itself.

Also, (again from ZR I think) I read that it'll last a good 5 years before you should re-inspect and touch up. Don't care about fading due to UV - I just want some good protection.

How thick is the primer? How hard would it be to remove most?

Not very I'd suspect in most areas. Surface rust formed after being hit by an unexpected rain shower, one night only (right after it was finished). I've read some things about etching primer, though I'm not sure it'd play a negative/positive effect in conjunction with ZR. I should find out the brand of primer used.

You can spray (rattlecan) or brush it on. I'm going to spray if I do.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
I did end up using ZR on a LOT of bare metal parts. Check my build thread for pics!
I'm very pleased with its coverage and adherence. I plan to spray the insides of my doors with it next.

Very cool. Time will tell, wish I could find people that have used it over the decade to see their current status.
