Hey guys, need some help with electrical troubleshooting on my 2000 silverado

It's kinda crazy but with the key off and the drivers door open there is no "beep" from the door being open or interior/dash lights from opening the door. As soon as I press the brake, the "door open" beep beep beep starts and the dash lights light up. Let off the brake, they all stop. This sounds like some sort of ground issue and while I feel I can fix it once I realize what it is; I need help figuring it out. Anybody want to take a shot in the dark or point me somewhere that will help me out without taking it to a mechanic or dealer? I also have replaced the stoplight/brake switch, that wasn't it. Thanks guys, ....jerry

It does sound like a bad ground. I had a '92 pu that had a bad ground strap between the cab body and the frame at one of the rubber isolators that caused the radio and heater controls to do funky things. Fixed the strap and the problems stopped. Just start checking all of your grounds on the whole truck. Good luck!

Anybody here that can tell me where the ground straps are? I know there is one from the bed to the frame. What about the cab and in cab wiring grounds? Where are they? Thanks, ...................jerry
