Getting ready to buy a 72 blazer
This might be a simple answer for someone, but not me. The blazer I'm looking at has cst on the glove box door, but no where else that I can see, haven't seen title yet, how else can you tell? And does it really matter for 1200 dollars

Re: Getting ready to buy a 72 blazer
A CST will have carpet and rear side panels, scroll pattern seats and door panels, stainless trim on the vent windows and windshield, some rubber seals between the doors and fenders, woodgrain lower side trim, and on the tailgate, doorjamb switches for the domelight, glovebox light, chrome bumpers, dual horns, and probably a few more things that I missed. The most important thing would be the condition of the body, as all of the CST stuff is much easier to add than fixing really bad rust. Unless it spent it's entire life in a very dry area, it is almost garenteed to have some.

Re: Getting ready to buy a 72 blazer
Thanks! That helped me as well. Alas, someone stripped everything off my Blazer, including the glovebox. The only proof left that it was a CST are the holes in the passenger door (driver's was replaced).
Is there any way of knowing if the tailgate originally have Chevy stamped into it or if it used the woodgrain lettering? |

Re: Getting ready to buy a 72 blazer
ALL blazer tailgates have chevrolet stamped on them. The CST blazers have the woodgrain band over the letters.

Re: Getting ready to buy a 72 blazer
OK, thanks. I always figured the tailgates with the bands on them were smooth underneath.

I'm not so sure it would necessarily have door jamb switches for the dome lights, but everything else sounds spot on.
My 72 CST Blazer, which is also a Highlander, never had door jamb switches in it. I wish it did though. |

Just looked, and mine didn't have door switches either. Came with a double wall top.

I was told once, but I can't remember if mine is a single or a double. I know it's the original, and it has a pair of dome lights, but never had door jamb switches. |

Markmark, if the body is in good condition, I'd buy it for $1200. After 40 years, some (or all) of the CST stuff is likely to be gone. |

Without factory door jamb switches in mine, I can only assume the switches were an extra cost option all by themselves. |

Re: Getting ready to buy a 72 blazer
Ya I can use the headlight switch to turn them on if need be. Most of the time I'm fumbling around in the dark with my keys though
The only other vehicles I've had that didn't have door jamb switches are the jeeps we had. But that's because the doors are made to be removed when you want to. It's not like the blazer doors were made to lift off easily. Go figure. |

Re: Getting ready to buy a 72 blazer
I don't understand why GM didn't put dome lights on the double wall top. You'd think with a lower ceiling that there would've been more room and it would've been easier to make them look like more than an afterthought. Heck, I actually like the looks of double walls better (good thing, too, since I have to get one for my Blazer). I don't think I'd be willing to pay a few hundred more just so my top bolts on from above.

So, Markmark, did you buy it? If so, when are we going to see pictures?
