What did you get done 8/21/11 edition

i finally broke down and bought a new cowl hood because i wasnt having luck geting a used one so that i installed this weekend . I went to install the tilt column in the truck and it turns out that when i bought it i never inspected it and it was messed up so that is on hold. I have to find another seat so i can do the seat cover.
How about you all?

Re: What did you get done 8/21/11 edition

I got the tranny replaced in my 83 and it is real nice to see/feel the old girl move again. The super high was short lived as now I has a power steering issue to figure out.

Oh well, Love my old trucks!

Re: What did you get done 8/21/11 edition

Did a little clean up in the shop. put away all the pistons and rods that aren't going into the 250. Tore down a TH400 to scrap, discovered I need a 12 point 3/8 socket to get the center support, guess which one is missing off my set? Settled out some 85% WMO for the diesel. Replaced the passenger window regulator on the 99. Visited with relatives. Now I've got a fire in the pit outside, gonna hand and drink a whiskey in between the rain showers.

That looks insane! I love the attention to detail in your build.

Nothing much in my truck. I picked up a new to me aluminum radiator and met member gearheads78, and took truck out for a little ride. It has a dead miss that I can't find. Really getting to be a downer.

I did replace the vent windows and the rest of the door channel weatherstripping. Not a big job, but it sure makes a difference in how it looks. The old, cracked belt moldings were getting to me.

Re: What did you get done 8/21/11 edition

man! looks like some killer work got done this weekend!

Paul, can I borrow that window unit? going on 64 days over 100 degrees just too freakin hot to do anything outside.

any reason why you're going with the Porterbuilt instead of one of the other kits? I'm considering doing this swap also and would like some input. PM if you want.

73GMC454... Dude, I love that dash cluster! most original idea i've seen in a while

sure come on and get it lol, i went with porterbuilt cause im eventually getting his rear kit, and went ahead and got the front dropmember cause im putting a ls in my truck and instead of buying the swap mounts only to later get the dropmember down the road two birds one stone =) buy the dropmember with the ls mounts lol.

Re: What did you get done 8/21/11 edition

I found some parts, but I don't know if I want to use them yet.

How it looks now.

And I found a steering wheel to go with the shift knob.

Re: What did you get done 8/21/11 edition

I replaced my engine, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing.
Then it started raining when I was putting the accessories back on the engine.
Fried my phone so I have no proof of it right now.

Oh, I'm in North Carolina. I have to change my location....
Thank you.
I will add pics soon.
I tried to put the A/C brackets back on today and couldnt get the damn things to line up right so I left it off so I could drive it home.
It drives like a totally different vehicle now. Way more power than before and it shifts effortlessly.
