NP205 to 4L80e

OK... so I have this NP205 that is supposed to be from a 1991 crewcab truck that had the 4L80e... Has 32 spline input and has the VSS connector on the output shaft... How does it mate to the 4L80e? Does it need a spacer? There are threaded holes on the transfer case, and the pics of the 4L80e i find also have threded holes... I think I'm missing something....

Also, there is another sensor on the top of the case over one of the shift rails. Was this for a dash light to show 4WD Engaged?

Here is the case...

Re: NP205 to 4L80e

You are missing the "Very Rare" transfer case to transmission adaptor. hope u didnt pay too much without it they can be hard to find and pricey.

I know that the link I posted adapts whichever transmission to whichever transfercase you have.... They are custom made to order interchangeble ends before final assembly.

I've dealt with TTF before. They make great products.

Thanks... I found that thread yesterday... and I see you were on ColoradoK5 as well... I got some info from that thread as well...

Most of the info I got from Pirate4x4, and I have been updating there... I dont have a trans yet, I just got the NP205 because I knew it has the 32 spline shaft.. I now know there is a long and short input for the 205.... and there are 3-4 4L80e output shafts...

I guess alot if this depends on the 4L80e I end up with... 2WD vs 4WD .. and the output shaft itself... Since finding a factory adapter is like finding the Holy Grail.... I will probably end up with this setup, from TTF, as its custom configurable (based on the 4l80e output) and infinitly clockable....

** I know the pic shows the Figure 8 pattern, but they have the round pattern as well

Thanks J.T. - I think I got what I need... I'm glad I found some pics of the factory part for reference... they were linked and not hosted by CK5...

You can get a TH400/NP241 adaper on eBay for about $100 or less. Im going to check the local pick-n-pull yard on Thursday. The guy I got the xfer case from said he should have a TH400/NP241 but has to check his stash...

Since I want to move my xfer shifter to a custom console, I couldn't use the stock lever in the stock location. It would be a waste of a hard to find part. Plus, if I cant find a cheap 4wd version of the 4L80e, I may need the custom adapter for the loner 2wd output shaft... I would rather not have the added cost of changing output shafts on the transmission...

I have a friend that can MIG/TIG with results that resemble a robot, so the TTF is a good match for my variables...

PS: Here is a pic of the factoy 1991 4L80e to NP205 (round) adatper with the shifter boss. Next to it (media blasted) is the output housing with the VSS mounting hole... (thery were posted by Northwest Fab on 3/13/2006 on the CK5 board)
