Brothers Dash

Finally got my Brothers Dash for my 1985 K20. Took 5 weeks. Hope it installs without too much triming. Bought this dash because the frame was metal and the price was reasonable @ $269. It is too darn hot right now in Nashville to install right now. Will post more pictures of the installation. Here are some pictures:

Re: Brothers Dash

Is it steel or aluminum? Because I know the one I got from performance restoration was aluminum. Check it with a magnet.

Re: Brothers Dash

Mine went in great. Just those F%^&$# clips, but they are a pain with any of the pads, OEM or aftermarket. I had to do no trimming on mine at all. I have to go back and replace the trim piece with an unbroken one this weekend.

Real curious to see how easy this goes in and how it looks when it's done. I need a new one myself...

The dash from Classic Industries used a plastic frame. The Brothers used metal. I watched the Classic Industries tread and was going to purchase that one until I found the Brothers one. Really liked that the Brothers one was metal like the OEM one. Time will tell if it fits well. Maybe it will cool down in a couple of weeks and I can get started on the installation. Will post pictures on the complete installation.

Re: Brothers Dash

Pal - does your Brother's dash have any dips or puffs in it when it is installed?
In your pic it looks like there are some dips around the openings toward the front, or is than an optical illusion? My complaint with the caps is that they puff up and dip since they are not attached firmly to the dash. I wonder if an upholstery shop can just strip an existing dash to bare metal and install new foam and vinyl and get a good result?

Mostly the picture. There is a spot where the VIN shows thru that is a bit wavy/dippy, but other than that it seems pretty straight/smooth. If you don't get all the cluips in and holding properly, it will be wavy looking.

No I purchased my dash pad from Classic Industries and it has a metal frame. It looked exactly like the one posted here. And the fit is nothing to write home about.

Re: Brothers Dash

Finally got some Fall weather in Nashville so the dash is installed. Took me a whole day to do the job but I cleaned stuff up, tied off loose wires and replaced all my bulbs at the same time. Had to do a lot of triming and in some places the fit was not so hot. But I am not building a trailer queen. Just wanted the interior to look clean.

After:

Looking new again:

Re: Brothers Dash

Sorry but do you have any pictures of how the clips go on? I got mine from Classic a couple of months ago but until the bodywork is done I'm not going to assemble the interior.....and I have no idea how the clips go on...the one's provided don't look anything like the old ones so I'm lost...

Thanks

I have classic pad and mine didn't come with clips, I used my old ones you might have to clean out the slots they fit into so they will fit. Just be careful not to poke a hole through the pad. Can you post a pic of the clips they sent I would like to see them. Also you will see how they go in when you take the old pad out, good luck....Vernski

I took the old one out a while back, looked like you have to push the pad in and then pull back or something? That's what I got from the old clips. The new clips kinda look like a V or something....I'll post some picks when I get back home.

Thanks

Re: Brothers Dash

Yes. I took some pictures of how to put in the clips. I will upload them. You kind of put them in sideways and then rotate them into place.

Re: Brothers Dash

You place the clip into the slot. Then you start to turn it counter clockwise. It kind of snaps in when you get it right. Mine when in easy once I figured it out.
