2003 Suburban keeps blowing headlightbulbs!!!!

I'm about to loose all patience...

2003 Suburban 105,000miles daily driver purchased new Aug2003. I can't keep a drivers side headlightbulb or passenger side daytime running light in this thing. I tried new bulbs, plugs, cleaning bulbs with lint free cloth etc..

I have been using the same brand blue 9005/9006 bulbs in this truck since the day i bought it. Power Acoustic 9005/9006 blue bulbs... never had this problem until lately. I used to blow a single bulb maybe once a year...

HELP PLEASE... I cant tolerate riding in a cyclops. That Chevy 2500 HD deisel is looking better and better

have you had your chargin system tested? to high of voltage will cause it but to be honest with you the blue style bulbs never last long never seen a set last longer then a year. other thing to make sure is that you are not touching the glass of the blub with your hands the oil from your hands will bake on the glass causing them to go out faster. clean them with alcoholic.

I agree, the blue bulbs don't seem to last. I get pretty good life out of Silverstars or normal replacement bulbs.

Re: 2003 Suburban keeps blowing headlightbulbs!!!!

It just seems that the problem has gotten really bad recently. I blew the drivers side the day after I posted this. Changed it out and it hasnt blown another bulb since. I'll be going forward with my Suburban SS project soon. If it gives me any problems at least it will be appealing enough to get rid of it.

I never allow anything to touch the bulb. I usually clean the bulb before, this time I didnt and its still working.

thanks for the feedback......

Re: 2003 Suburban keeps blowing headlightbulbs!!!!

I am sure you have already checked this, but I had to replace the bulb socket on the wife's old 04 Camry. That car was eating bulbs on the driver's side like every other week! It finally got to the point where the bulb just quit working. Aftr researching, this was a "fairly" common problem on that generation of Camrys. Once the socket was replaced it quit going through bulbs. I was quite frustrated too!!

Good luck!

Changed socket 2 bulbs ago. Seems like the problem is gone with this last bulb change.
