Did you drive the truck thru a marijuana patch or something?

Re: Has your GPS in your 67-72 do crazy things?

70, My DD has a garmin gps and one day I noticed that the top speed was 119 mph. It's a 1990 dodge dakota V-6 I've never been over 65 in it But I have made a few u turns.

I just did a quick search and found this
As the satellites drift in and out of sight or you encounter some multipath interference your unit will compute a slightly different solution based on the available satellites and this difference can result in an instantaneous change in position. This change can confuse the max speed indicator into thinking you traveled rapidly to the new location. Luckily these are usually very easy to spot. Hopefully Garmin will figure out a way to filter out these kinds of changes in a future release.

So far no issues in the Circuit Rider with a GPS...

Re: Has your GPS in your 67-72 do crazy things?

I think it is just beacuse it wasn't made in 67-72 is why it messed up...

everything made these days is cheap and dont last very long..

Thats why i like the old trucks..built to last..and they do outlast a lot..

I didn't know you could get 67-72 trucks with GPS!

BTW, that may be an 89 camaro, but the front end is not. Thats an 82-86 front clip.

I hate GPS except for to tell me a street sign before I can see it or at night. I was going to pick a truck the other night and never left the highway and it kept telling me I was off course.

i also like when you go on a new wider road around here..it shows you out in the middle on the water..it keeps saying turn right...turn right...

I just turn it off then...

only reason i got it is for the rollback..and towing them in....

GPS is a very low power signal. It is easily jammed. Since you were on a narrow gravel road it probably wasn't one of those ILLEGAL, portable GPS jammers you can buy on eBAY to fool your boss while you are on a delivery but it doesn't take much interference to knock GPS off line. Perhaps some other RF signal temporarily knocked your signal offline then the microprocessor inside it said well if I was over there a few seconds ago and am here now I must have gone 241 mph.

For those of you out there reading this that think it is funny to fool your boss with one of those jamming devices, there are more and more airports using differential GPS landing systems to land commercial planes full of people. I know I couldn't sleep at night if I rolled by an airport and took the GPS landing system offline and a plane full of people crashed.

Not long ago at the Newark airport the FAA, FCC, and a subcontractor were out there wondering why every once in a while the GPS landing system would go down. All of a sudden as a white van rolled by antenna 1, then 2, then 3, then 4 took themselves off line. They caught up to the guy and found one of those jammers plugged in the cigarette lighter. I'd hate to have to pay that fine.
