Swapped Dually axles to SRW axle, now back brakes skid almost every stop sign

i have a 1987 crew cab, 4x4 , it was a dually, i changed it to lighter duty 8 lug in front and a 14 bolt FF in back, i got rid of the overload brake thing, i wont be towing anything heavy,

i was told that the lever adds more braking pressure to the rear when the truck is loaded down,

anyway, i am not sure what to do, do i need a different proportioning valve?

I just want it to brake normal, years ago i knew someone that had the same problem when they converted to a SRW axle

You'll need to adjust the brakes. There is an adjustment as to how close the pads are to the drum. You'll have to play with is a little. Let us know if you need any help.

i can do that, the only reason i hadnt was because i thought drum brakes were always supposed to be adjusted to where there is just a bit of drag when you're turn the drum,
i can back em off though, it was just interesting that this happened on another vehicle with a similar swap, so i was wondering if the part # is the same for the proportioning valve for a DRW or the SRW
