Untouched trucks?

How much $$$ is an untouched "barn/field" find with the usual aged/patina? When browsing the net (Craigslist) what is a cutoff $$? Curious as I have all ready started the "browsing". I will be looking for that type.

Appreciated,
WILL

Re: Untouched trucks?

how deep is your wallet?

that questions answer depends on each individual's willingness and ability to pay what the seller is asking.

Ive seen guys buy perfect low mileage trucks for under $1K, then again I have also seen guys pay several thousand of dollars ( $20K) for a similar truck.

Re: Untouched trucks?

I bought a 64 Short bed Stepside at a yard sale for $3000.
http://s994.photobucket.com/albums/af62/ScottAz2/

The truck was painted by the original owner and his son and it was parked in the backyard 7 years ago.

I see them around here for $1200 to $12,000 just depends on what it is and what condition.

Mine is 100% rust free, no bondo always an Arizona truck.

It needs some minor mechanical work and a little lipstick to make her pretty again but not bad for the price.

Re: Untouched trucks?

It is worth what someone is willing to pay. An original Bugatti untouched since new went for $4M and needed another million in restoration.

I have a $1000 rule for most projects. If it costs more than that to acquire the donor, I rethink the project.

This truck, to me anyway, has been "touched".

What you seek is what we all seek. And aged/patina is no longer a detriment, but is now highly desired. Demand equals dollars. Good luck, and happy hunting!

Re: Untouched trucks?

Bought my 54, original, with an extra cab and some other parts for $2200. Now I'm on a search for a 63-66, found a 66 SWB original and "untouched" pretty much the way I want it but he wants $5k...not really in the market so to speak but keeping my options open.
Thanks for the advice...eberything has a price if you're willing to pay for it!!

Re: Untouched trucks?

5 G's for a 66 SWB survivor is not at all out of line, depending on the particulars. If it's got what you want, rethink the hesitation.

Re: Untouched trucks?

Like jimmy said, its worth what someones willing to pay. If someone showed me a lwb small window with no options thats pretty much all original and said its the greatest thing in the world and wanted big bucks I'd tell him to kick rocks. Now show me a swb bww with ac, power brakes and all that other good stuff then I will say you got yourself something special right there.

Re: Untouched trucks?

All depends, I paid 2100 for a 62 that was an all original BBW custom cab, 283 2 spd auto with power steering and power brakes. It had the original stainless hubcaps, original paint and zero rust. It was a killer score though, and I paid 1500 for an original paint 63 driver but needed work. My current truck I don't know what to do with is an original 65 BBW air truck and it was 2150. My cutoff is usually 2500 but will pay more for extra clean original trucks as they are near impossible to find.

Why thank you sir. It's the 28th truck built in the Oakland plant in 58, long stepper 283 3 on the tree, untouched, no rust, only minor dings, and the wood in the bed is still in great shape. I would love to build a gasser truck out of it, but can't bring myself to hack it up.
