My truck has no VIN, well sort of

My truck has a Kansas assigned identification number on the drivers door jamb,

How can I decode the truck cab without the vin plate their? Also why would it have one of these? I know it is not a numbers matching truck but I havent seen one of these before.

Any ideas?

Re: My truck has no VIN, well sort of

odds are one of the following;
title was long lost and needed this to get back in the system
truck is put togetherr of too many parts and needed a reconstructed title/vin
truck was totaled and needed a reconstructed title/vin
VIN plate was removed for what ever reason and the owner got busted/too honest and the state put this one on.

Do you know what the real VIN was? It won't tell you much about the truck at all.

Is the SPID on the glovebox door?
Is the build sheet still there? They can be tough to find, depends on where the guy in the factory put it, sometimes in the back seat springs, under the seat, behind the fuel tank, or under the carpet.
Is the frame original, there is a VIN on the frame.

there is only a partial VIN on the frame. Will only tell what plant it was built, and the serial number.

That's right, thanks for the correction Andy.

My truck has a state of Idaho assigned VIN number. It matches the SPID and the title.
