I imagine to have a fuel issue
So my wife has a 01 suburban with the 5.3 its been great up until not long ago when I noticed that it will never crank up on the first go unless its the first time its been started for the day. The truck will turn but wont crank but after shutting it off and giving it another go then it will start up. Here lately when I drive it and since I know it acts up I will open the key to on position without cranking it then I shut it off and turn it back on to crank it on. It will crank without problems. Now, there's no service light on or anything. I have swapped the filter out a few months ago and still acts up. ANY idea of what it could be? Maybe the pump not pumping enough? maybe the regulator if equipped with one?

Re: I imagine to have a fuel issue
Regulator or possibly the pump going bad. The regulator is on the drivers side fuel rail. It has a small vacuum hose on it. Pull the hose off, if there is gas in the hose replace the regulator.

Re: I imagine to have a fuel issue
Your on the right track. Either regulator, leaking injector, or bad check valve in the pump.
