Black smoke from one tailpipe only...
Ok so I havent really been driving the dually this summer due to riding my motorcycle unless its raining. I noticed the other day that when i start the truck up ther is some black smoke coming from only one tailpipe be it cold start or even after running a while. This just started happening not too long ago and am unsure if this can be a beginning to something bad or if it is just the carb needing to be tuned properly. At the beginning of summer i pout a new edlebrock carb on it but really didint tinker with it. The truck runs fine but am curious as to what I may be getting into. Oh yeah the truck is a 1987 GMC CC dually with the 454 BBC.

Re: Black smoke from one tailpipe only...
That sounds like raw fuel in one side of the carb. Could be something as simple as a piece of junk stuck in the carb holding the needle open. Probably just needs to be driven, I haven't driven mine that much either this summer and had it flood on startup a couple weeks ago. I just started a new job and have been driving it about an hour a day for two weeks now and I haven't had a problem since.
