Just a Hello from Texas

Just wanted to stop in and say Hello. Joined a few days ago. Long time Chevy guy and I just bought a 1998 K2500 Reg/LB with the 5.7. Nice truck and after a new engine and detail, it will be ready to go. Perfect truck fro my needs. I like the bigger tranny - 4L80e, the bumpers and 4x4 is a must. I always have had crew cabs, but feel it would be easier to drive and park a regular cab. Truck is high miles - 202K, but nothing a Chevy can not handle. Trying to decide on GM crate motor or from my local re-builder. Price is the consideration $1900 vs $1020. GM is the way to go, but takes up a lot of my budget. We will see.

Catch ya'll later. Will update as I go along with more pics, etc. -Rob

Re: Just a Hello from Texas

from the Heart of Arkansas! Texas is a place that is near to my heart...my wife is a Native Texan....and she has family from the 'burbs of Dallas to Sugarland and points west. Montague county is named for my ancestors. Oh, my ex lives in Paris. Try to forget about that.

Anyway, welcome to the site and good luck on your project. My '96 has 164K on it, while my brother-in-law in Longview has a '97 with only 44K. your mileage isn't too out of line...my wifes' '98 has 187K, but it's a Lexus. No harm, no foul.

Re: Just a Hello from Texas

Will start a new thread but wanted to update the progress on the new ride.

I bought a set of wheel and tires on CL this morning. I went down to the shop and mounted them up. Exactly what I wanted. Look great! Plenty of life left in them and I like these wheels. I think they look great on a C/K truck. Paid $350 for set.

I also cleaned up interior. Removed the prior owners "blow to go" deep lung device. Fixed a few trim items and pretty much cleaned it up a bit. Then I got the engine ready to pull. Pulled 95% of the wiring harness. Drained radiator and removed hoses, shroud, snorkel, accel and cruise cables. Hopefully just an hour or so left underneath and then I can pull it next weekend!! YeeHaw!!

Will keep you posted. -Rob
